Presentation of credentials
On 9 September 2019 the new Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Montenegro, Gregor Presker, presented credentials to the President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović.
In his talk, President Đukanović expressed satisfaction with the excellent relations between the two countries, which are not only partnership but also friendly. Montenegro is grateful for Slovenia's support for the pursuit of European and Euro-Atlantic interests. He also thanked Slovenia for its development and expert support. He recalled that, with their support in the defense field, they had easily mastered the path to NATO membership and the successes and opportunities to deepen their participation in education, science, culture and health.
Ambassador Presker announced continued support for Montenegro and stressed the friendship between the two countries. The two countries have exemplary cooperation in all areas that are free from open issues. The significant presence of Slovenian investors in Montenegro, as well as Montenegrin ones in Slovenia, testifies to good cooperation. Montenegro is a factor of stability in the region and has taken the most steps towards EU membership, adding that Montenegro and the Western Balkans have a future in the EU. Slovenia understands Montenegro and wants to join the EU as soon as possible.
